{"id":8954,"date":"2026-06-07T16:25:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T16:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lawsandlegals.com\/english\/?p=8954"},"modified":"2026-06-07T16:25:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T16:25:15","slug":"rajasthan-hc-seeks-reply-on-employees-claim-of-%e2%82%b9240-monthly-pay-for-36-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lawsandlegals.com\/english\/rajasthan-hc-seeks-reply-on-employees-claim-of-%e2%82%b9240-monthly-pay-for-36-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Rajasthan HC seeks reply on employee\u2019s claim of \u20b9240 monthly pay for 36 years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jaipur:<\/strong> Working for just \u20b9240 a month for 36 years has prompted a government employee to knock on the doors of the Rajasthan High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court has taken up a petition by a worker who claims that despite serving in a government homeopathic hospital for over three decades, his monthly remuneration remains stuck at a mere \u20b9240.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations, the High Court has issued notices to the Rajasthan government, the AYUSH Department and other concerned authorities, seeking their response within six weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court has also ordered that if the petitioner is currently in service, his employment should not be terminated until the next hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The petitioner, Vijay Singh Goswami, told the court that he was appointed in 1990 as an attendant (Class IV employee) at the Government Homeopathic Hospital in Baroli, Dholpur district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He claims that he has continuously performed his duties since then, but has never been regularized as a government employee and continues to receive only \u20b9240 per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Representing the petitioner, advocate Tanveer Ahmed argued that Goswami repeatedly approached the department and the state government seeking regularization of his services and a proper salary, but no effective action was taken over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the petition, Goswami has sought recognition of his services as regular from 1 July 1990 and requested the benefits of the regular pay scale applicable to Class IV employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has also sought payment of the salary difference between what he should have received and what was actually paid, along with interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The petition disputes the department&#8217;s claim that he was a part-time employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Goswami, records maintained by the hospital show that he worked in both shifts, indicating that his duties were full-time and permanent in nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plea relies on Articles 14, 16 and 21 of the Constitution and invokes the principle of &#8220;equal pay for equal work.&#8221; The petitioner argues that taking full-time services for 36 years while paying only \u20b9240 per month is contrary to labour rights and constitutional principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While hearing the matter, Justice Anand Sharma observed that the issues raised in the petition require consideration and directed the respondents to submit their replies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The case has generated considerable discussion in Rajasthan, with employee organisations and labour rights advocates stating that if the allegations are found to be true, it could highlight a serious instance of alleged exploitation within the government system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jaipur: Working for just \u20b9240 a month for 36 years has prompted a government employee to knock on the doors of the Rajasthan High Court.
