Jaipur:<\/strong> The Rajasthan High Court is questioning the working of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) over illegal constructions and encroachments on government land and roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the hearing, JDA itself submitted a list of 429 houses and shops that were allegedly built by encroaching on government land or by carrying out construction on roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Court questioned how such a large number of illegal constructions were allowed to come up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Chandrashekhar Sharma directed the concerned JDA Enforcement Officer and Deputy Commissioner to explain how these constructions were allowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Court observed that several of the constructions mentioned in the list were allegedly built under the supervision of the concerned Enforcement Officer and the Deputy Commissioner responsible for that area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, the Court wants to know how these officials allowed construction on government land and roads despite being responsible for enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JDA has been directed to serve notices on all 429 people connected with the properties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concerned Enforcement Officer must personally serve the notices and also paste them on the respective houses or properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people who receive the notices will have to appear before the Court through their lawyers at the next hearing and explain on what basis and how they constructed the houses or shops on the concerned land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Court also found that the names of the owners of some houses and shops were missing from the JDA’s list. It directed JDA’s lawyer to provide complete information about the owners of all such properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next hearing is scheduled for 1 September 2026. The Court has also directed the Registry to publish the order in newspapers so that all concerned people are informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In simple terms, the High Court is not only examining the alleged encroachments but is also questioning how JDA’s monitoring and enforcement system allowed 429 such constructions to come up in the first place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
