Jodhpur: In a significant development, the Rajasthan High Court has pulled up State authorities for filing “cyclostyled” affidavits regarding the condition of shelter homes for women and children, observing that the reports merely carried signatures without providing the information sought by the Court.
A Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Sanjeet Purohit directed officials from every district to file fresh district-wise affidavits detailing the actual condition and requirements of Nari Niketans, Balika Grahs, Bal Grahs, and Foster Homes.
The Court also ordered the authorities to submit the latest status of each institution along with photographs.
The Bench made it clear that copy-paste or routine affidavits would not be entertained, emphasizing the need for accurate, district-specific information to enable a proper assessment of shelter homes across Rajasthan.
The directions were issued during the hearing of a suo motu case initiated after girls residing in a Balika Grah in Alwar wrote to the High Court highlighting hardships caused by the non-release of grant-in-aid and alleged inaction by the State Government.
