Masaka NRM Youth Launch Taskforce to Guard Party Votes

Masaka NRM Youth Launch Taskforce to Guard Party Votes:As the 2026 general elections approach, Masaka NRM youths have launched “Team NRM Solidarity,” a taskforce aimed at safeguarding party votes and boosting support for NRM candidates across the city. Party leaders urge unity to prevent internal divisions from undermining their campaign.

Members of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Masaka City have launched a new mobilization and vote-protection taskforce, dubbed “Team NRM Solidarity,” as preparations for the 2026 general elections gather momentum.

Composed largely of youths, the group says its core mission is to safeguard party votes and rally support for NRM candidates, starting with President Museveni and extending to all elective positions in the city and beyond.

At the launch, Assistant Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Masaka, Jafar Ssesanga, praised the initiative but cautioned against internal conflicts.

“This is a commendable initiative, but I urge you to stop fighting amongst yourselves. Internal wrangles weaken the party and can cost us victory,” he said.

Masaka City NRM Chairperson, Rogers Bulegeya, described the taskforce as a timely intervention to strengthen the party ahead of the polls.

“This taskforce should serve as a platform to enhance grassroots mobilization. Let us begin from our villages if we want to secure NRM victory,” he urged.

Muhammad Yiga, chairperson of Team NRM Solidarity, pledged loyalty to the party and vowed not to campaign for non-NRM candidates.

He also advised members who lost in the primaries to reconcile with the party and back official flag bearers.

“We are not going to campaign for anyone who does not hold an NRM card. Those who lost in primaries should return and support the party for the sake of unity and victory,” Yiga said.

The launch is seen as part of broader efforts to consolidate NRM support in Masaka, a region where opposition parties have recently made inroads, even as some former primary losers have declared intentions to run as independents in the upcoming elections.
