Next three days crucial for Rajasthan Judiciary: Key Decisions on Transfers, Promotions and Appointments

Judicial Hub Shift: CJ Sanjeev Prakash Sharma Leads High-Level Administrative Push at Jaipur Bench

Jaipur: The next three days are expected to be crucial for the Rajasthan High Court as several key administrative and judicial decisions are likely to be taken.

Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma will sit at the Jaipur Bench along with senior judges Justice P. S. Bhati and Justice Vineet Mathur from May 5 to May 8. While such assignments between the Jodhpur and Jaipur benches are routine, this particular sitting is being seen as significant due to multiple pending decisions.

One of the most awaited developments is the transfer list of judicial officers, which has been delayed for over a month due to the National Lok Adalat and the visit of the Chief Justice of India. Sources indicate that the High Court’s administrative committee may finalize and release the list during this period.

The High Court administration has recently streamlined all files related to the promotions of judicial officers, raising expectations that long-awaited promotion decisions could be announced soon.

There is also a strong possibility of a collegium meeting to deliberate on the appointment of judges. With three senior judges present in Jaipur, the collegium may assess candidates and take forward the appointment process.

Meanwhile, the ongoing standoff between the bar and the bench over declaring two Saturdays each month as working days remains unresolved. Lawyers have been boycotting court proceedings on these days, and efforts are likely to be made to find a workable solution.

The process for designation of Senior Advocates is also underway. Applications have already been invited, and the committee may move forward with finalizing names in the coming days.

In addition, the schedule for the next Full Court meeting may be decided.

Several disciplinary and policy matters, including the Saturday working issue, are pending consideration before the Full Court.

With the Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma set to retire on September 26, the window for taking major policy decisions is limited. As a result, the coming days are being viewed as a decisive period for addressing key issues related to transfers, promotions, appointments and administrative reforms in Rajasthan’s judiciary.
