Rajasthan HC Transfers 805 Judicial Officers, Promotes Over 400

Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma Leads One of Rajasthan Judiciary’s Largest and Most Humane Administrative Exercises

Jaipur: In one of the largest administrative exercises in recent years, the Rajasthan High Court has issued transfer orders for 805 judicial officers across the state while also granting promotions to more than 400 officers, bringing long-awaited relief within the judicial fraternity.

The large-scale reshuffle, carried out through four separate transfer lists, has ended prolonged uncertainty regarding transfers and promotions in the Rajasthan judiciary. Judicial officers across the state have described the exercise as one of the most balanced and emotionally sensitive administrative decisions in recent times.

The decisions were finalized by the High Court Administrative Committee after approval from Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, whose administrative approach and sensitive handling of the process are receiving widespread appreciation among judicial officers.

Sources within judicial circles stated that this time the transfer exercise was not treated merely as an administrative formality. Instead, personal, medical and family-related circumstances of officers were also taken into consideration while deciding postings.

One of the most significant aspects of the reshuffle was the relief granted to judicial officers whose spouses are also serving in the judiciary. Nearly 130 judicial officers, comprising around 65 judge couples, were reportedly accommodated at the same station or nearby locations following special directions issued by the Acting Chief Justice.

Several officers privately expressed that balancing judicial responsibilities with family life becomes extremely difficult when spouses remain posted separately for years. They described the decision as a humane step that has restored stability and emotional comfort to many families.

The High Court administration also paid special attention to judicial officers suffering from serious medical conditions. Considering their treatment requirements, nearly a dozen officers were retained at Jaipur and Jodhpur headquarters so they could continue receiving proper medical care while remaining close to their families.

Notably, the decisions relating to medical cases were reportedly taken with complete sensitivity and dignity without publicly disclosing the officers’ illnesses.

Another striking feature of the transfer exercise was that a majority of officers were reportedly given postings according to their preferences and personal requirements. Judicial circles have described the process as comparatively transparent and balanced, resulting in greater satisfaction among officers.

With the transfer lists now issued, judicial officers have begun joining at their new places of posting. Several officers are said to be expressing gratitude towards Acting Chief Justice Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and the High Court administration for adopting a practical and humane approach.

According to the figures released:

339 newly recruited batch judicial officers received postings or transfers
158 ACJM-level officers were transferred
43 CJM officers were transferred
181 ADJ officers were transferred
84 District and Sessions Judges were transferred

The large-scale administrative changes are being viewed as a significant step towards improving both administrative efficiency and morale within the Rajasthan judiciary.

Sources further indicate that a revised transfer list may also be issued in the coming weeks. Certain judicial officers are reportedly facing difficulties related to children’s education and family circumstances, and the High Court administration may consider granting further relief in deserving cases.
