Jaipur: In a significant move promoting fuel conservation and environmental protection, judges of the Rajasthan High Court are increasingly adopting eco-friendly modes of transport, setting an example for sustainable living and responsible use of public resources.
As part of this growing initiative, senior High Court judge Justice Ashok Kumar Jain was seen travelling in the Vande Bharat Express along with regular passengers from Jaipur to Jodhpur on Sunday evening.
According to sources, several judges of the Jaipur Bench are currently hearing matters at the Jodhpur principal seat following directions issued by Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma. During weekends, the judges travel back to Jaipur and later return to Jodhpur for court proceedings.
Earlier, most judges reportedly travelled by road using government security vehicles and police escorts. However, in an effort to encourage fuel saving and reduce environmental impact, many judges have now started opting for public transportation.
Justice Ashok Kumar Jain travelled to Jodhpur by Vande Bharat train as he resumed hearings at the Jodhpur bench from Monday onward.
The report also states that Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma has given up the use of his escort vehicle as part of the broader effort to promote fuel conservation.
Meanwhile, Justice Sameer Jain has been consistently spreading awareness about environmental protection by cycling to the Jaipur Bench of the High Court from his residence in Gandhinagar. Videos of the judge riding a bicycle to court had earlier gone viral on social media and received widespread public appreciation.
The judiciary’s efforts are being viewed as a positive message to society, encouraging citizens to adopt sustainable practices such as using public transport, reducing fuel consumption, and protecting the environment through small but meaningful lifestyle changes.
