New Delhi: The Supreme Court has declined to interfere with the Rajasthan High Court’s order in the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) matter.
A Bench of Justice K. V. Vishwanathan and Justice Alok Aradhe heard the matter. Appearing for the Court-appointed Administrator, Bhaskar A. Sawant, IAS, Shiv Mangal Sharma, Additional Advocate General for Rajasthan, submitted that, pursuant to the Rajasthan High Court’s order dated July 1, 2026, Sawant had already assumed charge of the Rajasthan Cricket Association.
It was further submitted that the Special Leave Petition (SLP), filed in the name of the RCA, could not be treated as one filed on behalf of the Administrator since it had been instituted by members of the erstwhile Ad Hoc Committee before the Administrator assumed charge. The Administrator had also conveyed this position to the Supreme Court.
After hearing the parties, the Bench declined to interfere with the High Court’s order. Following the Court’s observations, the petitioners sought permission to withdraw the SLP, which was allowed.
Consequently, the High Court’s order appointing Bhaskar A. Sawant as Administrator remains in force, with fresh elections to be conducted under his supervision within three months.
The SLP had been filed by members of the erstwhile Ad Hoc Committee claiming to represent the RCA and were represented before the Supreme Court by Advocate Narendra Singh Yadav.
With the withdrawal of the SLP, the election process will now proceed in terms of the High Court’s directions.
